KX 93.5 Appoints Monica Silva As New Development Director
Laguna Beach, CA – October 21, 2014
Stemming off of the heels of a successful Festival of Music with the Beach Boys and the celebration of two years in the community as Laguna’s Only FM station, Tyler Russell of KX 93.5 appoints a new Development Director to help foster the station’s exponential growth.
Monica Silva, formerly of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, joins the KX 93.5 team as the new Development Director.
As the Development and Marketing Associate of the Boys & Girls Club, Silva’s experience while working with local non-profits and the relationships she built with entities in Orange County and Laguna Beach in particular will be a welcome addition to the station.
“Fundraising in a town of 25,000 people with almost 300 non-profits is a unique, challenging task, and Monica has already proven that she can handle it. We look forward to continuing KX 93.5’s growth with her at the fundraising helm,” said Russell.
KX 93.5 aims to partner with more local businesses in the community as well as non-profits. Monica is well-suited to help facilitate that reach.
“I am excited to join this movement in Laguna Beach. I am inspired by KX 93.5’s mission and promise to connect Laguna Beach and worldwide listeners with an open-door policy that allows the exposure of “Generational Alt Rock” musicians, non-profits, and community causes. I hope to help do just that; well, I don’t know how well I can do in the worldwide listener-ship part, but I can certainly try!” Silva remarked.
She will resume the duties of Development Director which include brand management and promotion, elevation of station memberships, sponsorships and underwriting as well as maintaining community presence.

Founded Oct. 2012, KX 93.5 is Laguna’s only FM radio station. It’s a non-profit, non-commercial radio station, focused on the music, the listener, and the local community. The format is “Generational Alt Rock” from the 1960s until now, featuring public affairs, surf reports, sports broadcasts and more. The station provides a voice and a creative outlet for the hundreds of Laguna Beach musicians and beyond that are turned down by commercial radio.
